I HAVE tried in vain to fathom the latest two impenetrable public consultation documents produced by the council's intellects who have mastered the art of political spin.

I feel sure they are 'on message' to certain Government quarters as they usually are, but I cannot understand why our elected councillors (who are ordinary folk like us?) agreed to them being circulated. Unless of course they prefer total confusion again, to deter us from having our say.

The Budget Green Paper (45 pages of nonsense) defies description, particularly page 3... "concerted action and prioritisation of resources to address the unequal distribution of wealth and opportunities within the borough."

There will always be workers and shirkers; spenders and savers; responsible and feckless and so on. Perhaps 'they' can achieve an ideal Shangri-La for all and then lead the world? Maybe via the new Call Centre on page nine we can 'press option one if your neighbour has more money than you, a better house, a bigger car'...

As for sending in your comments to Council Leader Doug Taylor, by January 24, may I warn any respondees that they should be sure to record it. When I hand-delivered a letter to his house last year it mysteriously went missing.
