Blame owners, not dogs

Friday, January 20, 2012

LETTERSFrom Don Hughes, Totland Bay:

BEING a dog owner, my sympathy goes out to the owners of Charlie, the cockerpoo that was killed by a Staffordshire bull terrier.

I can only imagine the terror they endured at the time of the attack. I own two Staffies and they are one of the most loving breeds of dogs you could own.

Even though my dogs get on well with other dogs, they are never let off the lead in public, as I am sure they would retaliate if attacked.

It is my responsibility to have 100 per cent control of my dogs, I cannot guarantee this control without a lead.

Staffies are not bad dogs some just have bad owners.

Staffies are extremely strong dogs and require lots of attention. This is why lots end up in rescue centres because of the commitment required.

To all dog owners, and especially Staffie owners keep your dog on a lead and be responsible.
