LAST weekend special celebrations took place at Cryers Hill Methodist Church to mark the 100th birthday of Mrs Gladys Whitworth. On Saturday a party, to which 80 people came, was enjoyed by Gladys and her daughter and two granddaughters, who came over from America for the event. On Sunday Mr Peatey led a Thanksgiving Service which was followed by tea.

Coming services are: 10.30am - the Rev Tevita Siuhengalu; 3pm - the Rev Gregory Hargrove. Tuesday will see the singing group meet at 7.30pm. Thursday the Afternoon Fellowship meet at 2.15pm. All are welcome.

TWENTY-FIVE years ago was the Queen's Silver Jubilee and every household in the village was offered a commemorative mug. The Great Kingshill Residents Association (GKRA) would like to commission a second commemorative mug for the Golden Jubilee, so we are turning to the village for suggestions on what design you think should be on the mug. GKRA are offering prizes in three categories: up to seven-years, eight-to-13 years and 14-years upwards. For more information please call Sheryl Batting on 01494 712963, Nickey Nisbet on 01494 712811 or Heather Cave on 01494 714519, or alternatively look out for the GKRA Newsletter in February.
