Countdown to church closure

LETTERS From Hazel Perkin, Ryde:

HOLY Trinity Church, Ryde, will close its doors for the last time on Saturday, January 25, after a service presided over by the archdeacon of the IW, the Ven Peter Sutton.

It will be a sad day for the faithful few.

From the sea, the view of Ryde will still be the same.

The hills will be covered with houses safely nestled between the tall grey spires to the east and to the west.

Mr and Mrs Peregrine Falcon will no longer be disturbed by lights and music and people, but will be able to enjoy their solitude in peace and quiet — except for the pigeons!
