January 19, 2001 16:14: Velvet Harmony, otherwise known as Bromley Ladys Barbershop, gave Mayor David Crowe a blast of what they can do and passed him £600 cheque for the Community House appeal.
The ladies had performed a programme at Beckenham public hall, in December.
The audience gave generously to the Mayors charity appeal to support the centre, which provides a resource for the boroughs charities.
Christine Warne was one of the 24 ladies who performed. She said: "We would like to thank everyone who gave us money.
"We had a wonderful time.
"It was a real pleasure to perform to a generous audience."
The ladies meet at St Pauls Church Hall, Crofton Road, Orpington on Tuesdays from 7.45pm to 10.30pm.
