Festival of kites a joy to behold

Red Kite. Picture by Thomas Kraft.

LETTERS From Lynda Higbed, Chippenham, Wiltshire:

MY husband and I have just spent four days on the IW (September 14-17) and were utterly amazed to see not one red kite, but at least six.

We couldn’t believe our eyes. It looked as though they may have been three separate breeding pairs but their territory seemed to overlap a little.

We were so surprised and taken aback, that we went back on a second day to the same spot and, lo and behold, there they were again.

I’ve been jumping up and down with joy ever since. Amazing!
