LETTERSFrom Glenn Steen, East Cowes.
So, the new floating bridge is being delayed. Surprise, surprise!

This just sums up the short-sighted attitude of this council, who awarded the contract away from the Island.
Surely, by awarding the contract to one of the two or three companies capable of doing it would have sustained jobs.
There would have been decent hourly rates, not the £8 an hour thousands on the Island are on.
It would have benefited the economy without a shadow of a doubt but, most importantly, it would have been delivered on time.
The revenue lost by having to use the launch and without the money raised by transport not using it must be mounting up by now.
The Island is in its worst state in all my 58 years here, mainly down to this dreadful government with its austerity plans and an inadequate MP, who somehow got 28,000 to vote for him.
This council has not helped the situation one little bit.
