LETTERS From Debbie Zumbeel, Lake:

THANK you so much to everyone involved with the wonderful Folkstation festival on its new site at Porchfield last weekend.

Despite the generous jetstream’s gift of a monsoon, the festival flourished.

The music was as varied as could be: ukeleles, fiddles, penny whistles, English bagpipes, banjos, harmonicas and washboards (to name but a few) all electrified audiences. Once the rain stopped, beautifully costumed dancers leapt with vigour and the children emerged from their den to sing and play the instruments they had made.

Short of relocating to the Sahara, the organisers and volunteers did all they could have done to ensure festival -goers’ comfort.

With all the mechanical help available, there was nothing wellies, waterproofs and a stout tent could not overcome. In the words of an old shanty sung in the bar yesterday 'Pretty work brave boys (and girls), Pretty work I say!’
