LETTERS From Martin J. Young, Cowes:
I suspect most Islanders will be unaware February 28 could mark a momentous date in the history of The Isle of Wight.
A date which could mark a big change in the direction of the Island’s economic future, which will make all of our lives that much better.
For on February 28, the planning committee will be revisiting its decision for refusing Red Funnel’s Plan B application, which the planning officers 'called in’. (CP, 27-01-17).
The committee, acting in the best interests of the Island residents, went against recommendations of officers in rejecting Plan B.
I urge all committee members to again have the best interests of Islanders in their thoughts, and vote against the plan in its entirety (this includes the sell-off of Trinity Wharf to Red Funnel).
Why?, because it will destroy high-skilled, well-paid employment which is much needed here, and discourage further expansion of manufacturing here.
