LETTERSFrom Clive Boorman, Shanklin
There have long been arguments about how much seasonal parking should cost and when it should apply.

This is currently from March 1 to October 31 and, whatever your opinion, it is clearly signposted and a matter to be taken seriously by users on pain of a substantial financial penalty, but one taken as little more than a joke by the local authorities.
Introducing such charges imposes a duty on both parties so to discover a lengthy hike was necessary along Shanklin seafront to find a working meter, Just five days after they were put back into operation, and after four months of maintenance time, is disgraceful.
No doubt the councillor responsible for roads will blame Island Roads for failure to maintain the machines, but whoever takes eventual responsibility needs to, at least, attempt to look professional.
Setting the clocks properly would also help, most of them are fast.
