LETTERS From Neil Hendriksen, Cowes:
I ATTENDED the last of the PFI roadshows by the Island Roads group on Wednesday, January 30.
It was very encouraging to hear of the plans to upgrade and maintain the roads across the Island to a high standard.
The presenters all spoke enthusiastically about the project, the standards to be achieved, the community involvement and transparency.
However, that transparency became worryingly opaque when any questions were raised regarding the need for the Medina asphalt plant. It was clear the plant is not a necessity for the PFI project.
The fudged responses implied arrangements between the various parties involved in the project had already been agreed. Something is being kept from the public.
The questions are what? and why? Can anyone provide honest answers?
