From George Bristow, Brading:
Bestival has left because the difficulties getting on and off the Island mean it is no longer viable here.
This is the wake-up call all those who govern us need to address head on.
The link to the mainland is the artery that supplies the beating heart of the economy and if we squeeze and restrict it, the inevitable heart attack will occur.
Freeing up the link with a 24-hour turn-up-and-go, 15-minute crossing and fair toll must be the goal we all work to.
Whether that is provided by a link on the water, under the water or over the water matters not.
Any elected representative, or potential one, needs to explain how they plan to achieve this, it is the number one and only issue that addresses virtually every problem we have.
