Islanders should say no to water price hike

Friday, February 3, 2012

LETTERSFrom Gary Eldridge, Ryde:

AS Southern Water has the right to increase prices as it sees fit, so do customers have the right not to pay the increase and to either enter negotiations singularly or collectively to reach an agreement.

Alternatively, Southern Water customers should be able to take their custom elsewhere, but that is not possible as Southern Water appears to have a monopoly on the Island.

I respectfully suggest all Island homes and businesses should tell Southern Water exactly where they can put their price increase and collectively we should all refuse to pay the increase, but continue to pay our bills at the old rates, until such time as Southern Water understands Island people and businesses do not in any way have the same levels of income as the mainland and simply cannot absorb any more such excessive and unnecessary increases in prices.

Enough is now more than enough. Time for people to send a message to these arrogant, greedy, parasites.
