I HAVE just been to the best festival of my life, Bestival 2012, and I have been to many mainland ones including different Glastonburys etc.
The atmosphere at the weekend was utterly superb. The site looked amazing and it was a privilege to take my young crocodile-dressed family to an event that will stay lodged in my memory bank for the rest of my days.
Watching First Aid Kit in the sun on Friday lunchtime simply started the ball rolling, I could have been on Afton Down in the early Seventies.
Quite simply I would have paid the full weekend entrance fee for Saturday alone. To dress the kids up and enjoy the wonderful stroll past the Bandstand on Saturday morning, watch Skinner Lister pass the flagon around and then do it all again in the evening at the Sunday Best tent…heaven!
My kids were enthralled by the wacky happenings in the forest ( feeding the lion in the cage, going up the surreal lift and playing tennis with swingball), you had to be there to believe it.
As with every year we will be getting our tickets as soon as possible.
So, basically, thanks to the Bestival team once again and keep making quirky little changes, but not to many, I think it's pretty much spot-on.
I always had a dream of taking my kids to Glastonbury in a camper van in the next year or so…but I really don't need to bother!
What a privilege to have this on my doorstep and what a way to finish off the summer each year!
