LETTERSFrom Roger Salmon, Ryde:
HAVING worked on the mainland for many years involved in successful and long-term road resurfacing, why is it that on the IW, our road resurfacing amounts to spraying hot tar on to worn out, rutted roads, have our vehicles marred by the chippings and covered in tar specks?
This short-term solution does nothing for the long-term future of the roads and the top dressing does not last.
I am sure the contractors are making a fortune and someone at the council is just ticking a box that says our road project is being sorted out.
