LETTERSFrom Christine Behan, secretary, Bembridge Community Library committee:
THE committee of Bembridge Community Library would like to thank all those who made our welcome morning on December 10 such a success. The library was full of happy people all through the morning.
The raffle proved a great success and in itself raised £287. We are grateful to all those individuals who donated prizes and to Staddlestones Garage, in Bembridge, which provided a prize of a valet service.
The refreshments were greatly appreciated and this is due to a large extent to the generosity of the Southern Co-op Store, in Sherbourne Street, which donated £30 to the community library, which was used to provide the mince pies.
The music provided by the Bembridge Recorder Group was beautiful and the children really enjoyed the colouring and the stories.
Overall, the event raised the splendid sum of £565. Our main aim, however, was to raise the profile of the library, to let everyone know the library is still going strong and to invite residents from Bembridge and elsewhere to use its services.
We must especially thank all those volunteers whose hard work made the morning so enjoyable and successful. Particular thanks are due to John Sparrow, who co-ordinated the whole event.
