On Friday, Dulwich travelled to high riding Canvey Island and came away with an impressive 1-0 victory, but followed this up with a disastrous 5-1 home defeat at the hands of Gravesend.

Hamlet went to Canvey looking to strengthen their league position, but conceded a penalty in the opening third of the game, when Mark Garland tripped Steve Parmenter.

Steve Tilson, however, squandered the opportunity, shooting wide of the target.

The only other chance of note in the first half came when Declan Perkins struck the bar for Dulwich from 20 yards in the dying seconds.

Canvey dominated the second half but could not find a way through - though Chris Duffy and Danny Carroll both went close for the home side.

Eight minutes from time, substitute Dean Green struck the winner for Dulwich, his shot towards goal taking a wicked deflection past Ashley Harrison in the Canvey goal.

Last Monday it was a different story, as Gravesend forged ahead after 11 minutes when Lee Spiller scored from 20-yards. Three minutes after the interval the hosts levelled. Veli Hakki hit the inside of the post and from the rebound Mark McGibbon rammed the ball home.

Just after the hour, Spiller bagged his second, volleying home from the penalty spot.

This prompted a Dulwich collapse, as the visitors opened up a two-goal lead. A Darren Smith cross was deflected into his own net at the near post by Mark Garland.

Che Stadhart soon made it four, and Jimmy Jackson rounded off the scoring with a blistering free kick.
