LETTERS From Ms J. Pearce, Cowes:
AS soon as I saw the IW milk campaign card on page 61 of last week’s County Press, I cut it out and presented it on my weekly shop at Sainsbury’s customer services on Friday morning.
The representative declined to accept it. Her comments (to the best of my memory were): "We already use IW milk. It is in the supply chain. I have leaflets about this. The supply chain is addressing this."
I’m sure, like most of your readers, what I want is to be able to buy from Sainsbury’s (or wherever) milk clearly labelled as IW milk, which is 100 per cent produced in the Island and processed on the Island, not shipped off to be mixed with other milk and reimported, which Sainsbury’s seems to be implying is good enough. It isn’t.
I shall send my card to head office and urge others to do the same, as retailers seem reluctant to accept them.
