UXBRIDGE 1 HARROW BOROUGH 0

Harrow Borough's recent miserable run reached its lowest point yet on Tuesday with a 1-0 defeat at First Division Uxbridge's elegantly named Honeycroft ground.

Playing in what turned out to be their last cup match of the season, Boro went out of the Isthmian League Cup at the third round stage with hardly a whimper.

With Boro playing without seven regulars for an amazing collection of reasons, including Pat Gavin and Nelson Kumah, and with Uxbridge lacking their top scorer Frederiksen, this was never going to be an attacking extravaganza, but by the final whistle, most of the fans who had braved the cold must have wished they'd stayed indoors instead.

Boro lined up with Darren Watts, a late signing from Brackley, making his debut and the rarely used Johnny Kumah in defence.

There was early evidence of a failing by Boro that was to persist throughout, when Danny Nwaokolo made a good run down the left, but his cross to the far post was hit far too hard.

Frankie McCormack,in his first start after coming back from a lengthy spell of injury, drove a free-kick well wide in the sixth minute.

Miller had Boro's only shot on target in the entire first half when he drove straight at the keeper's legs from eight yards, following a good through ball from Kumah.

When Miller fastened on to a long ball from Paris, his run at the defence was ended when he was brought down on the edge of the box by Stuart Bamford. Surprisingly, and to Boro's annoyance, nothing was given by the referee.

Boro's best chacne came in the 38th minute, when 'keeper David Hook's long clearance fell to McCormack, whose mazy run past two defenders was followed by a neat pass to Roberts, who provided a chance that Dodds was too slow to accept.

Kumah, injured in a tackle, was replaced by Kash Walker.

Uxbridge came more into the game in the second half, and it needed a memorable save by Hook, diving at the feet of substitute Moore and pushing the ball for a corner, to deny them the lead.

The winner came in the 72nd minute when a corner by Granville was headed on by Weedon for the unmarked Nick Ryder to head home from a yard out.

In a last desperate move, Boro brought on new Australian signing, defender Ben Blake and youngster Leon Latty for the ineffective Miller and Watts, but to no avail.

Boro trooped disconsolately off the pitch after another woefully inadequate performance.

HARROW BOROUGH: Hook, O'Brien, J Kumah (Walker), Roberts, Nwaokolo, Paris, Adolphe, Watts (Latty), Dodds, Miller (Blake), McCormack.
