Money to heat Island’s streets

LETTERS From D. Penberthy, Niton:

THE IW Council has cut many jobs as a result of a reduction in central government funding.

The chancellor in his Autumn Statement indicated there would be less money for councils in the next financial year.

For at least the last ten opening days of the Lord Louis Library, Newport, the main door has stood open all day. However, the council has so much money it can afford to heat the air around the bus station.

Sitting as warm as little bugs-in-a rug in County Hall are those charged with running the Island but they seem blissfully unaware of such matters as the heat being wasted — heat that is funded by the tax payers.

Perhaps the chief executive would care to explain why his minions have fallen down on the job — yet again.
