LETTERS From Jim Elston, Ryde:

GIVEN there may soon be a campaign to support the Island’s pubs, it may be of interest the immediate future of the Solent Inn is now safe, thanks to help from Punch Taverns.

After a period of uncertainty, the pub’s future looks good.

Famous locally for its real ales and live music, this traditional local is now being run by myself and my partner, Julie Weber.

The County Press covered the plight of the pub when threatened with closure so it may be reassuring Ryde’s oldest pub is safe for the foreseeable future.
