LETTERS From Alan Bennett, Northwood:
SO, with the ongoing debacle of CEC, it’s now the first time our new Independent-led IW Council gets to really show its mettle.
Everyone is demanding to know who is to blame for the mess and the council leader says "there is no need for a witch hunt". Well, I agree totally. A witch hunt is where totally innocent people were accused of a crime and dealt rough justice summarily.
We want an honest and open inquiry to expose who was to blame for blighting our children’s education and, yes, punish them accordingly. The two departed officers are touting for work on a website for professionals called LinkdIn.
1 Janet Newton — deputy director for schools and education services. On LinkedIn she is, "head of infrastructure at IW Council".
2 John Brocklehurst — schools capital programme project manager, according to his LinkedIn profile. But we are told he was he not to blame? Here is what somebody posted about him on LinkedIn: "John has extensive knowledge of project management and works well with all groups. He is dedicated to his work and applies his knowledge in a friendly and efficient manner".
3 Steve Beynon — is running ApEynon, an education consulting business up country, quoting "Strong strategic leader with proven track record of addressing under-performance". Well if he was the guy in charge of the two above, perhaps he was to blame?
4 David Pugh — well nothing to add here to Mr Teflon.
So, if Steve Beynon and David Pugh are blameless, the two officers above have left with six-figure sums and gagged, are we to assume there is some incompetent numpty wandering around County Hall who is responsible for the mess at CEC? That’s the only conclusion left to draw, unless someone is fibbing, of course.
