From Lesley Hampshire, Shanklin:
My two young granddaughters came to visit last weekend and were looking forward to walking along the sea wall from Bonchurch to Ventnor.

They love following the 'planet signs’ as they call them, from the sun to Pluto, and pacing out the steps between each.
This time, however, the lovely little models of each planet were no longer there.
Someone had deliberately removed every one except the sun.
To do this you’d have to bring a sharp instrument to lever each one off its plaque so this was a premeditated act of vandalism, damaging a fascinating installation.
At first we all felt angry but then one of the children said, & ;#39;Whoever did this must be very unhappy so perhaps we should feel sorry for that person’.
That really made me think.
