A PUPIL from a Dartford school is set to trek through the Himalayas to raise funds for cancer care.
Dartford Grammar pupil Swatee Deepak, 17, and her mother, Neera, 48, will leave England today (Wednesday) to spend a week walking in the Indian mountains.
The pair, from Bromley, hope to raise £2,000 sponsorship each for CancerBacup which supports people across the nation suffering from all types of cancer.
The trek aims to reach Tulganath Temple, the highest Hindu shrine in India, at 3700m above sea level.
Mrs Deepak said: “As well as raising money for the charity we also want to raise awareness.
“A lot of people, especially from ethnic minorities, do not come forward to get the information and are not aware of the help available to them.”
Anyone wishing to sponsor the team should contact Mrs Deepak on 020 7920 7210.
