Pharmacy flu jab a help for GPs

LETTERS From Graham Long, Cowes:

I READ the report, (CP, 28-09-12) about not being able to obtain a flu jab from the local pharmacy and agree with the person about the inconvenience of being unable to obtain this service through one’s local pharmacy.

I wonder why? Could it be loss of payments to GP clinics, as I am sure the pharmacy must be paid for the service it provides.

For the last two years, I have had my flu jab through my local pharmacy, and how convenient it was. No endless queues as with the clinic. Just contact the pharmacist, agree a date/time, then turn up at the appointed time. No queue, no fuss, no endless waiting.

We hear much about overworked GPs. I would have thought this is a simple way of easing their burden.
