Demolition of a decaying block of flats and resettlement of tenants will cost the council almost £2 million, according to a housing report.
Barrie House, a 21-storey block on the South Acton estate was found to have poor quality windows and walling which does not resist high winds.
Replacement housing to provide 70 units will be provided on undeveloped sites within the estate and building works will begin next April. It is feared that the loss of 16 flats from the scheme may place a strain on temporary accommodation in the area.
