LETTERSFrom Barry Groves, assistant district commissioner, East Wight Scouts, Sandown:
THIS year is the 110th anniversary of the start of the scout movement by Sir Robert Baden-Powell.

To celebrate the event, the Island will be holding a joint East and West Wight District St George’s Day parade at Newport on Sunday, April 23.
The groups will assemble at Newport Quay and march to Newport Minster, led by the Wight Diamonds Marching Band.
The route will be from the Quay, Sea Street, Holyrood Street, Lugley Street, Lower St James’s Street, High Street and St Thomas’s Square.
The start of the parade will be 2.15pm and everyone will be at the church before 3pm.
Unfortunately, this will mean a few slight disruptions on the route for safety reasons.
We have been very fortunate in having the support and co-operation of Island Roads, IW Council parking services, IW Division of Docklands Traffic Management, Southern Vectis and the police.
We would like to invite any ex-scouts, ex-leaders, parents, friends and supporters to line the streets to show their support for the scout movement.
We would also like to offer our apologies in advance if the parade should cause anyone any disruption to their travel plans.
