LETTERS From Mr and Mrs Martin, Lichfield, Staffordshire:
We stayed at The Leconfield hotel in Bonchurch and decided to take the pleasant walk along the seafront path to Ventnor.
It was Friday, September 13 and upon reaching the other side of Ventnor it started to pour with rain.
We started to hurriedly walk back to the hotel — by now we were completely wet through.
Outside the Ventnor barber shop we asked a gentleman if he knew the quickest way back to our hotel, he happily gave us directions.
Within minutes, a car sounded a horn and behind the wheel was the gentleman who had given us directions.
He asked if we would like a lift to our hotel and we accepted gratefully.
The kind gentleman took us right up to the hotel drive. He was then going to go home and make apple pies, what a lovely man. Thank you!
