Thousands try to give best service possible

Publishing the comment from one reader about the lack of welcome for tourists (CP, letters 15-08-14) does the whole IW tourist and attraction industry a grave injustice and is not representative.

You cannot please all the people all of the time: there are thousands of retailers, accommodation and attraction providers who bend over backwards to provide the best possible service, especially as the whole Island relies on its biggest industry by far to do so.

Your paper, in reporting a one-off criticism, unfairly misrepresents that reality.

Editor’s footnote: The letter Mr Sheriden-Wallis refers to was a wide-ranging attack on service levels on the Island, and although it only came from one person, it did offer food for thought for the industry. It was backed up by another letter last week.
