LETTERS From Pete White, Newport:
I HAVE watched with interest to see the improvement around the Shoulder of Mutton site in Newport, pictured, but to no avail.
I cannot believe Newport Parish Council contributed council tax money to making the fencing around this site look even worse than before, with a covering of debris netting and spray paint design. To top it all, councillors Price, Jones-Evans and Perry and our MP had their photos taken by the work, endorsing it.
Of course, I want the developer to tidy and make safe this prime site in the middle of our county town as it is a disgrace and I want them to replace the temporary fencing with a fully boarded hoarding at no cost to the council tax payer.
I would like to see the IW Council use its powers to take enforcement action. I know Newport Parish Council has asked for this on numerous occasions but have been refused.
Come on IW Council, this has gone on long enough, let’s see something happen before the temporary fencing deteriorates or somebody gets hurt.
