We have lots of volunteers to thank

From Cllr Richard Priest, Shanklin:

I AM writing to thank all the volunteers who made this weekend such a successful bank holiday, highlighting the diverse range of activities that volunteers make possible for residents and tourists alike.

Starting on Friday with Shanklin Theatre hosting Strictly’s Pasha and Katya (with the Island’s Wightstars being given the experience of a lifetime); then the Wayfarers and supporters again making the Randonnee a cycle-fest and all those who helped with drink stops were appreciated (especially Mrs Bulpitt and the team at Bembridge); Shanklin Bowling Club’s open day attracted young and not so young; and Rich Hall’s set at the Isle of Arts Festival was a credit to the organisers, as was the whole programme.

These, and countless other events, only happen as a result of voluntary support and it is clear the Island is fortunate to have so many individuals who give so much to their community.
