WHO was responsible for the crazy decision to cancel household rubbish collections for two weeks during the Christmas period when most houses produce the largest volume of rubbish of the year?
The residents of West Street, Ryde, were obviously not aware of this as they, and many other residents, still put out their rubbish, giving the urban foxes a field day scavenging among the black bags.
On New Year’s Day, West Street looked like a scene from a disaster movie with rubbish everywhere. What a lovely way to welcome 2012 to any visitors on the Island.
