Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF) have committed $1.5 million to relief operations in the area of the earthquake in China.
Lions Members from China and Macau have raised $600,000, they have supplied 5,000 tents and more are on their way. They have also sent relief teams to the area to deliver supplies and assist with operations there.
The Highworth and District Lions Club will be making a substantial donation shortly.
All monies donated to LCIF is used directly by Lions Clubs in the area and none is used for administration or expenses. LCIF was voted the best non-government organisation in the world in 2007, and Highworth and District Lions Club are pleased to support it.
More information regarding LCIFs relief activities can be found on www.lcif.org which is regularly updated.
