TRIALS rider Mark Coombes secured the title after winning Sunday’s penultimate round of the IW Motorcycling Club’s winter championships.
Riding in the intermediate class, Coombes finished ahead of Ben Read and Andy Scott-Jackson to take the honours at Haslett Farm, Shorwell. Rob Howard won the expert class ahead of Simon Newnham.
The novice group was won by Ben Brodie, who finished 25 marks clear of second place rider Keith Jacobs.
The adult beginners class was won by Phil Silvester, who completed the trial with the lowest total for the day, dropping just six marks as he edged closer to the championship title.
There were three youth finishers, led by Harvey Grieve in the novice class, who gained ten championship points.
Josh Morris notched up his first-ever win in the beginners, two marks clear of championship leader Harrison Crickmore.
The final round of the 2016 championship will take place on Sunday, starting at noon.
