UNIPART Automotive, based on Riverway Industrial Estate, Newport, is at the forefront of providing car parts and accessories to Islanders.
Unipart Automotive is part of the Unipart Group and has more than 300 centres across the UK.
The Newport branch is managed by Dean McCabe, who oversees the 14 members of staff and seven work vans.
"We supply many of the main dealers and independent secondhand car garages on the Island," said Dean.
"We also provide parts and accessories for people to work on their own car at home — which should be done with care."
Dean feels the parts and accessories side of the motor trade is in somewhat of a transtition period, with the new engine cut off system being installed in many new cars, meaning a new crop
He explained: "Many of the new cars have an engine system where the car battery cuts out when it stops, which lowers emissions and is more environmentally friendly.
"This means that there are new parts that are needed for the se types of vehicles and it is a completely different concept. There are different computer systems and electronic management systems.
"Our staff will be undertaking further training and their skills and knowledge will be improved as a result."
