IF you want to improve your driving, take advantage of the IW Council’s latest better driving course, which starts on Tuesday.
These popular six-week better-driving courses combine practical and theoretical training to improve driving standards.
Bad habits are easily developed by drivers over time and the course aims to refresh driver’s knowledge and cover skills and techniques involving car control, road positioning, cornering, speed, safety and overtaking.
Research shows driver error is the main cause of road accidents, so this course aims to help drivers become more confident, skilful and safer.
In just six weeks, drivers will be given the opportunity to learn everything from predicting the road ahead to having the right attitude to be safer on the road. The course is open to people of all ages and levels of experience.
Cllr Edward Giles, IW Council cabinet member for the environment and transport, said: "As a council we are committed to reducing the level of road accidents on the Island.
"Through educating drivers in a positive way and building on the skills they already have, we hope to reduce their chances of being involved in a collision."
The next course begins at Enterprise House, Newport on Tuesday evening and will continue at the same time and day for a further five weeks.
It is run by road safety professionals and costs just £25 for the entire course, including an assessment drive.
