UK Street Cars on show on the seafront at Ryde. PIcture by Robin Crossley.
MODIFIED and high-performance cars were in abundance when members of UK Street Cars gathered on the Island.
More than 250 owners and their vehicles took part in the event last weekend to show off their pride and joy to other drivers and members of the public.
The event was supported by the emergency services and featured a static display, drive out around the Island and a road safety demonstration. Members of the Supercharged Outlaws were also on hand with one of their high-performance vehicles and a display from the 4x4 Land Rover team.
Event organiser Mickey Lewis said: "I am delighted at how well our first event on the IW went. I have to thank everyone who supported the event and especially to the emergency services and Sgt Paul Bailey.
"They put on a mock rescue of a crash, which showed people what they go through at an incident. It was very thought provoking and re-iterated the importance of taking care on the road. We also had a talk from a woman whose son died in a road crash and the 300 or so people in attendance were all gripped by what she said.
"Our hope for next year is to put on a bigger and better event. The IW is a great place and has a lot to offer," he said.
