Jersey FA 1

Harrow Borough 3

Harrow Borough's visit to the Channel Islands ended in success with a comfortable victory over the Jersey Football Association at St Helier.

Boro, invited by thein hosts to assist in their preparations for the Bank Holiday Muratti fixture against their hot rivals from Guernsey, were without several key players and took the opportunity of giving run outs to several squad players.

Harrow started the stronger and took a deserved 15th minute lead when Nko Ekoku's free-kick found Alan Paris, whose cross was volleyed in by Paul Adolphe.

Boro's lead was doubled three minutes later when an Ekoku throw-in was headed on by Pat Gavin to Steve Brown, who turned the ball home from close range.

On the half-hour, Boro went further ahead when fine approach work between Ekoku and Paris saw Paris hit an unstoppable shot into the top corner of the net from 25 yards.

Play became scrappy after that and Boro allowed their hosts to reduce the arrears after 40 minutes when Steigenberg shot home from close range.

A magnificent penalty save by Harrow keeper Dave Hook, who flung himself to his left, prevented Jersey adding their second goal after Kumah had been adjudged to have bundled over a home striker.

The second half began brightly with chances at either end. Mark Xavier went close for Harrow, and at the other end, Hook was called on to save twice with his body.
