Acclaimed folk double act Dave Ellis and Boo Howard are coming to the Island.
MUSICA FAN who developed a friendship with an acclaimed folk double act is bringing them to the Island to play.
Jack Jones is having them play at his 60th birthday party, on March 3, but the evening before that he is promoting a show by Dave Ellis and Boo Howard at Quay Arts, Newport.
Jack, from Brading, said: "The pair are a hugely respected and admired acoustic duo of 30-odd years’ standing, with seven albums to their credit. They will be making their first appearance on the Island.
"I was in a group of people who regularly used to go to see them and we became friends along the way. I thought who better to play on the Island?
"Dave was once voted one of the top five guitarists in the world — ahead of the likes of Jimmy Page, no less."
He performed on the TV music show The Old Grey Whistle Test and was a regular at top London music venues the Marquee, the Roundhouse and the Lyceum and opened for the Edgar Broughton Band at the Roundhouse and Rod Stewart at Reading Festival.
Dave and Boo’s present acoustic partnership began in 1998 — a mix from folk to jazz, blues to bluegrass.
