MUSICTHE IW Symphony Orchestra’s next concert will be something of a family affair for the Island’s Grubb family.

In a first for the orchestra, this season’s guest conductor, David Grubb, will be leading three of his family members — brother Andy, sister-in-law Debbie and niece Laura.

The event will also mark a welcome return for pianist Viv McLean, who played to a sell-out Island audience last year.

This time around he will be performing the Grieg Piano Concerto.

Viv has an extensive career, both as a soloist and in chamber ensembles, and has featured on BBC Radio 3’s Young Artists’ Forum scheme.

He has also recorded recitals for Classic FM and radio throughout Europe and performs regularly at music festivals.

The programme also contains the Suite in E flat by Holst, a military band piece arranged for full orchestra, and the exciting Symphonic Dances by Rachmaninov.

The concert takes place next Saturday, March 20, at 7.30pm, at Medina Theatre.

Tickets are available from the box office.
