MUSIC COWES Concert Band attracted a full house at All Saints’ Church, Gurnard, for its annual Christmas extravaganza.

The 27-strong band treated the audience to carols and a variety of other festive-themed music as part of its Christmas tour of four Island churches.

The programme included When a Child is Born, The Snowman and FelizNavidad, an up-tempo Spanish pop song and one of the most popular festive tunes in the United States and Canada.

A version of The 12 Days of Christmas, arranged by musical director Andy Norman, proved a particular hit with the audience, and the concert was rounded off with Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus.

The band also played a concert at East Cowes Methodist Church on Monday as part of the tour.

Speaking about the Cowes concert, Mr Norman said: "We were delighted to play in front of such a good audience and we had lots of positive feedback from them.

"We have played there for several years now and have already been booked for a similar concert there next year."

The band rounds off its Christmas concerts at St Mary’s Church, Cowes, on Monday. It is supported by Cowes Rotary.

Tickets can be bought in advance from Beresford’s hairdressers, Shooters Hill, Cowes. Doors open at 7.30pm for an 8pm start.
