Cellists converge on Island for concert

Taking part in the cello event are, from left, Joshua Lynch, Megan Rolf, Charlotte Walker, Melanie Rock and Rachel Watson.

MUSICCELLISTS from around the UK performed together at a charity concert on Sunday.

Aged between 14 and 25, the performers travelled from as far as Aberdeen, Durham and Guernsey for the annual event at Niton Primary School.

All had worked with cellist James Halsey, including Cowes residents John Power and Melanie Rock, who both performed.

A variety of pieces from famous composers included Gabrielli, Barber’s Adagio, Faure and Beethoven.

Bear Necessities was also popular with the audience.

The £160 raised will be shared between Niton Primary School and the Earl Mountbatten Hospice.
