MUSIC MORE than 250 people were at St Saviour’s Church, Shanklin, to enjoy a charity concert by two male voice choirs.

Newchurch Male Voice Choir played host to the visiting Tamar Valley Male Voice Choir from Cornwall, to raise money for the Sandown and Shanklin Inshore Lifeboat.

Sheelah Stephens, secretary of Newchurch MVC said: "The lifeboat is the choir’s chosen charity for the year. The concert was free but we had a collection and raised about £600."

As well as the two male choirs, all-female musical trio Cantobelle entertained.

Mrs Stephens said: "The concert was held in the church itself and it was brilliant. St Saviour’s is a lovely church."

Each choir performed before joining together for a powerful finish.

The Newchurch MVC has a Christmas concert in December. For more information, call 01983 402327 or visit www.newchurchmvc.co.uk.
