MUSICMUSIC lovers were treated to famous songs from television, stage and screen, at a show by the Island Concert Band.

Pieces from Pirates of the Caribbean, Miss Saigon, Oliver! and Thunderbirds were performed at the concert, conducted by Robin Tweddle and held at the Minster Church of Sts Thomas, Newport, last Saturday.

Band manager Jacquie Woodhouse said: "It was a really nice venue to play in. I think we played well and it was a very good programme.

"We had some very positive comments from the audience and raised quite a bit of money for the band."

Thanks and gifts were given after the concert to Miss Woodhouse, who is retiring as band manager after five years.

"I decided it was time to let someone else have a go. Now I can just enjoy playing," she said.

The next concert will be held in January.
