Faye Williams, of Cowes Concert Brass Band.
MUSIC CORNET player Faye Williams has been named as the first winner of Cowes Concert Brass Band’s new Player Of The Year Award.
The 18 year old was presented with the prize at the band’s recent concert at East Cowes Methodist Church.
Musical director Andy Norman said Faye had shown tremendous dedication to the band and had worked extremely hard since being asked to switch from cornet to fill the vacant soprano position.
"It is not an easy seat to fill but Faye has given it her all and is a worthy first winner of the award," he said.
Faye, of Woodside Close, Northwood, said: "I was shocked at winning but it was a pleasant surprise. I am enjoying playing with the band and have made lots of new friends."
