Folk set to rock railway

By Jamie White - Friday, March 19, 2010
MUSICTHIS year’s Folk-Station event will take place on Friday, July 9, to Sunday, July 11, at the IW Steam Railway exhibition ground, Havenstreet.
The colourful festival showcases many of the Island’s outstanding folk musicians, who will share the stage with nationally and internationally acclaimed folk artistes.
Folk pairing John Spiers and Jon Boden, described by The Guardian as "the finest instrumental duo on the traditional scene," have been confirmed as the Saturday night headline act.
They have twice won the BBC Radio 2 folk award for best duo and have made the genre of spontaneous English folk very much their own.
Welsh performer Deborah Hodgson will be also appearing on stage on the Saturday.
She is fast becoming noted for the purity of her voice in gentle harmony with acoustic guitar and Welsh harp, accompanied by jazz.
Other acts performing include Lucid, Andrew Kay and Carole Etherton, Capella, Terry Emm, The Dollymops, Smoke and Mirrors and Pete’s Sake.
FolkStation weekend tickets include admission to all the FolkStation events, travel on the IW Steam Railway and camping for the weekend.
