Former Island musician launches album

Wounded Soldier.

MUSICSONGS written in a Munich bar six years ago have been released in an album by a much-travelled Ryde musician.

Richard James Winter, 44, who grew up in Elmfield but now lives in Germany, wrote all the songs and music for Wounded Soldier, which is based on people fighting their way through life.

He used his own recording equipment to create the album and he is delighted with the end product.

"I took my time with it and I am very proud of the album, as the songs have been influenced by my childhood on the Island," said Richard.

He lived in Brighton and London, before he moved to Austria in 1987, where he played gigs with a violinist from London in Salzburg and Tyrol.

He moved to Vienna and then on to Munich, where he wrote the album in the Zum Holzwurm bar, which means 'to the woodworm’ in English.

Richard now lives in Geisenfeld, about 60km to the north east of Munich.

The front cover of the Wounded Soldier album is an image of him when he was a child.
