Giant of the piano world

Friday, January 11, 2013 - 10:15

MUSIC WEST Wight Arts Association is hosting a special additional concert on February 23, starring the internationally acclaimed pianist Peter Donohoe.
He has achieved worldwide acclaim since his Silver Medal performance at the International Tchaikovsky Competition in Moscow in 1982.
Recognition of a glittering career, in which he has worked with many of the world’s greatest conductors and made a number of award-winning recordings, came when Peter was awarded a CBE for services to music in the 2010 New Year’s Honours. He has most recently featured on Radio 3 with his 50 Great Pianists series.
Peter will be playing Schumann’s Abegg Variations Opus 1, Liszt’s Sposalizio from Annees de Pelerinage, Chopin’s much-loved Sonata no 3 in B minor Op 58, Shostakovich’s Preludes and Fugues numbers one to four and Beethoven’s last piano sonata, Opus 111.
Tickets are available from Totland Parish Office on 756028, Monday to Thursday from 9am to noon, or e-mail totlandparishco@googlemail.com. The concert starts at 7.30 pm.
