MUSICFIFTY bands will do battle in a race to play as many venues as possible in six hours.
The first Band On Da Run will be held on the Island on July 21 when 50 bands will have six hours to play an original ten-minute acoustic set in as many of the 50 designated venues as possible.
Each band will start at noon in one of the venues in Newport, Ryde and Cowes.
After their first set, the bands can choose where to go next and the group that plays in the most will win the £1,000 cash prize.
Money raised during Band On Da Run will go to Island causes.
An after party will be held at the William Coppin, Newport, from 7pm, where the winners will be announced.
Organiser Rob Carr, whose band The Cardinal Richelieu will perform at the after party, said the event was something the Island had never seen.
Rob said: "I really want to promote Island talent and bring the music community back to life.
"It’s something different and I think it would be really good fun."
Registration for Band On Da Run will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
