MUSIC MEDINA Community Choir’s superb Motown Magic concert could have gone on All Night Long.

The entire choir, all 103 of them, signed, sealed and delivered last Thursday in front of a sell-out audience at Medina Theatre.

More than 20 Motown hits from a host of artists were turned into choral classics, many created by the choir’s musical director, Hannah Brear.

I Want You Back, ABC, Endless Love, War and Superstition were performed, before a mash-up of the latter two songs, which involved audience participation, brought act one to a close.

Teenage singers from the Island Community Glee Club, who appeared on the BBC’s Sports Relief does Glee Club, also performed.

Among the highlights after the interval were I’ll Be There, Heard It Through The Grapevine and You Are The Sunshine of My Life.

The choir’s male singers performed My Girl and there were impressive solos by Nick Sephton during a Motown medley.

Hannah Brear sang a brilliant duet of Sail On with Cyrus Dean, who was singing with the choir for last time before going to university, before the choir and the audience came together for the All Night Long finale.

lJubilee Tribute, from the album Diamond Jubilee, recorded by the choir with the Band of Her Majesty’s Royal Marines, Portsmouth, was aired on BBC Radio 3 on Saturday morning.
